PRESS RELEASE: RetroRock Radio – Central New York’s New Brew, FINALIZES “GLITZKRIEG: FINAL SHELTER LOCKDOWN” Programming

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brewerton, NY – [December 16, 2025]RetroRock Radio – Central New York’s New Brew, the host of RetroRock Rewind and The Rock King Radio Show with Bobby D, today announced the final structure for its heavy holiday event: “THE GLITZKRIEG: FINAL SHELTER LOCKDOWN.” This campaign provides a needed escape from the traditionally overplayed seasonal ‘favorites.’ (No hints of George Michael’s cologne here.)

The Sanity Shelter: RetroRock’s Last Gasp for the Year

The station’s Brew-Tal New Brew lineup serves as the ultimate Sanity Shelter. Core programs (The Daily Grind, The Dark Roast) and syndicated powerhouses, including Rich Embury’s Power Hour & Retrograde, Doc Rock’s Metal Shop 101, Hard, Heavy, and Hair w/ Pariah Burke, allow listeners to keep their Seasonal Sanity Gauge full. Christmas music is only injected at the show hosts’ discretion.

“If we havta play holiday music, it MUST rock!” said Rhett Butler, General Manager. “We’ve kept the Sanity Shelter open as long as possible, giving listeners the only place where holiday music doesn’t grate your nerves, but now, the Maximum Assault is almost here!”

The Glitzkrieg Countdown & Full Timeline

The doors of the nuclear Christmas music shelter are about to slam shut as the GLITZKRIEG MAXIMUM ASSAULT takes full control.

  • Final Weekend Bastion: The absolute final window is the BREW-Tal Awakening on Saturday, December 20th (5:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST). This 12-hour block is the station’s full-throated rock and roll last gasp for the year.
  • MAXIMUM ASSAULT LAUNCH: Shelter dissolves at 6:00 PM EST on Sunday, December 21st, with the launch of The Big Rock annual Christmas special.
  • Chaos and Life Support: The GLITZKRIEG ASSAULT: Full Christmas Chaos runs through Dec. 27th. From Dec. 28th through Jan. 1st, the schedule pivots to the eight rocking Chaotic Christmas Tracks infusion, providing rock and roll with some needed life support.
  • Ejecting DJ Chaos Kringle: The entire campaign concludes at Midnight on January 1st. The station returns to its full REGULAR rock schedule at 12:01 AM on Friday, January 2, 2026.

‘FREEZIN’ FOR A REASON’ – Local Plunge Proves CNY is Hardcore (And Crazy!)

By Lisa McNab, RetroRock Reporter & Photographer

BREWERTON, NY—Forget your delicate holiday ballads; this past Sunday, Central New York demonstrated its true hardcore spirit by diving headfirst into the icy waters of Oneida Lake. It was the annual “Freezin’ for a Reason” Polar Plunge, and it was loud, fast, and completely unhinged—just the way we like our rock and roll.

This wasn’t your grandpa’s quiet charity event. This was a rock concert for the insane, dedicated to raising essential funds for the Special Olympics New York.

The Lineup: Cold and Costumed

The air was sharp, snow dusted the ground, and the water was a frigid bath of slush and floating ice chunks. But the chill was no match for the costumed warriors turning out for a worthy cause.

The scene was pure mayhem:

  • united by the chill and the massive American flag flying high from the fire department ladder truck.

  • The Main Act: A crowd of hundreds gathered,

  • The Headliners: Plungers lined up, looking like a mix tape of the wild and the wonderful. We saw Aquaman and Captain America ditching their dry superhero gear to take on the truly cold villain: winter.

  • The Aftermath: The Special Olympics banner served as the backdrop for the post-plunge adrenaline rush—a true testament to the courage of those who braved the freeze. Even the massive inflatable polar bear, rocking sunglasses, seemed to be  judging the rest of us warm spectators.

 RetroRock Verdict

In a world drowning in soft Christmas jingles, these plungers proved that CNY still has the grit and the punch we demand in our music. They weren’t just splashing around; they were sacrificing comfort for an incredible cause, channeling the true spirit of rock and roll toughness.

If you weren’t there to witness this epic display of commitment, hit the Special Olympics New York site and donate. Because if they can dive into Oneida Lake in December, you can certainly hit your donation goal.
